Reno walks in the door to hear Remiel say, "The halfling just needs water and sleep. You, on the other hand need to drink this and lie down." Remiel puts bowl of leafy green concoction to Artair's lips and a warm, wet rag to his head. "Get him another blanket from the cupboard," he says, and one of the guards in the room complies.

"Before the war, they would lynch wizards. Here, everyone who does anything magical is a wizard. The lynching is an old tradition. Never could get the militia to stop carrying it out, no matter what punishment I laid out for it. The ladies trust me more, thankfully. Anyway, meals will be brought to you. I'm locking the door behind me. Guards are posted outside, if for no other reason but to make sure no one throws bottles of burning oil through your windows. If anyone besides the axe wielder or the dragonborn tries to leave before they are ready to enter the tower they will have to deal with the guards, who do not take your presence here lightly. If you survive the night together, you can clear the tower, collect your pay, and leave."

Remiel hands a key to Reno. "Let me know when your people are ready to go, and I'll have the guards escort them to the tower." Remiel, the guards, and the thin woman leave. The door closes behind her, and you hear a click.

  1. Reno pockets the key and looks around at the wounded, doing his best to hide his bruised ribs. He sits down on one of the spare beds and says to no one in particular, "So... That was probably the worst way to show the town we're here to help them. They're really going to love us now."

He looks at the Druid, "They specifically told you not to cast spells and you couldn't make it 5 minutes without throwing a few around?"

He shakes his head and looks at the pirate. "And you had to smash a halfling over the head to show you're a badass? There was a perfectly good pile of assholes throwing their machismo around right there just asking for a good chair to the face, and you pick a drunken halfling."

He sighs and looks to the Dragonborn. "At least you kept your head down. Not that it seemed to help much."

Reno grabs some of the ointment and rubs it on his bruised face, then lies back on the bed. "Thank the gods there are goblins to kill in the morning."

  3. "Reno, here's a dark moon to go with your white knight." *moons him*
"We need to get out of here and grab a few supplies. Who cares what people are thinking, I'd rather take what we can get. The best part is that we drank for free in there!"
*Goes to the door, attempts to pick it open with Arthur's lucky bear claw.*

  5. "Capn's Log: Brilliant Plan #71.

    1. Open door.
    2. Reno seduces lady guards.
    3. Gresh helps distract while Zaragoza sneaks out.
    4. Altair eats a dick.
    5. Meet up at the ship.
    6. Find local thieves' guild, procure tools.
    7. Locate lady's house. Get Reno laid and raid house for food rations.
    8. Recruit Torchy the Cabin Boy to be our lantern-bearer in the tower.
    9. Visit local whorehouse, heal.
    10. Gather intel on goblins.
    11. Die in a blaze of glory.

    Any questions?"

((Charlie and I came up with this plan. Except for eating a dick, this is a great plan.))

  6. Despite Reno's protests, your unusual choice of tools, and the strange construction of the locks, Zaragoza picks the lock so deftly that he leaves not even the smallest scuff on the bear claw (even if it would have amused him to do so). Zaragoza swings the door open, Artair grabs the bear claw from Zaragoza, and Zaragoza returns to his bed, leaving Artair standing there with the bear claw as one of the guards shouts "THE DOOR'S OPENING GET READY!" amid the sound of swords unsheathing.

"One of them has the keys, idiot. Calm down," shouts another guard, from further off.

Zaragoza carefully kneels down behind Artair, and swings a wild uppercut into his testicles. Artair passes out from the shock, and falls into the doorway. Zaragoza returns to his bed, and begins laying out his plan.

  7. Reno gives the guards a winning smile as he drags the 'wizard' back to his bed. Then returns to the door nods politely and shuts it (without locking it again) so that the team can plan in relative safety.

    1. "So anyways, I agree with most of Zaragoza's plan. But the infighting has to stop. Right now. We're doomed if we can't get past this ridiculous battle the two of you are having."

Reno goes over and uses whatever was left of the healing supplies to try and make sure Artair and Gresh are alright.

    2. I splash some water onto Arstan's face from my waterskin until he awakens.
"Let's get along, you scurvy bastard."
I spit in my palm and offer my hand.

    3. Gresh opens an eye as Reno approaches. He lets out a sigh and waves at Reno to move on. "I'm fine. Was just trying to enjoy one night in an actual bed. Though those two over there haven't exactly made it east." He grunts and rolls his eyes as he points at Zaragoza and Artair. "Wouldn't be a bad idea for all of us to get some rest before venturing into that tower. Especially since once we clear out those goblins we'll probably be right back on the road, and who knows when the next time we'll get to sleep in actual beds again."

  9. "Ok, so if any of us are going to go out and get things done this evening, then I guess I'd best handle my end first. If I can't distract them, we're not getting anywhere."

Reno sighs then heads back over to the door. "Keep your eyes open. We might not get long."

He then heads out the door, quietly shutting it behind him and greeting whomever is out there with a winning smile and empty hands. "No worries, its just the Ranger."

  11. Gresh groans and sits up in his bed as Reno closes the door. He turns to Zaragoza and shakes his head. "For a man ready to bemoan our downfall due to infighting that Reno sure is ready to rush head long into the night. You rubbing off on him captain?" Gresh plops his book into his lap, and slowly begins to scan over pages. "If you ask me today's already a loss. We should rest and wait. Then head out in the morning to get what information we need on that tower, and then we can rush off into the dark. Action is good after all, but a bit of patience never hurt anyone" He looks up from his book and gives small shrug. "But that's just the opinion of a lone dragonborn that just got two crossbow bolts pulled from his chest."

  12. "Damn it, Gresh. You're up. You have one thing to do in this plan, and it doesn't even require getting out of bed. Make a ruckus and your gracious captain will finish the mission."

I hide behind the door, making ready to slip out and head to the ship.

    1. Reno is busy flirting it up with the ladies. At this point, he doesn't really seem to care if the rest of the team is even going to come out and do things. Having something to entertain him seems to be sufficient for him at the moment.

  14. Zaragoza sneaks out of the building with Alton in tow. We start looking for the guild of thievery to purchase tools. (Mike is here and agrees, with a sigh.)

  15. DM absent. Initiate GODMODE. Zaragoza grabs the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords, hiding it within his Cloak of Flash, Shadow, Daggers, and Stars.

  16. Zaragoza, when you peek the doorway to see if the coast is clear, you see two guards standing atop the buildings across the street. One of them squints at you trying to make out the shape of the person in the doorway.

  17. I use my magic cloak to protect myself from the prying eyes of the guards while I sneak out in search of local thieves.

  18. Zaragoza backs away from the door for a moment, then he and Artair run for the alleyway. Guards on the buildings shout an alarm, and fire crossbow bolts at them. The guards talking to Reno shove past him and run after them. One of them tackles Artair, and drags him back to the house. The other follows Zaragoza into an alleyway, but returns shortly thereafter, drawing her sword and shouting, "Sound the alarm!".

A horn is blown, and horns further off echo it. The guard with the sword out points it at Reno, and holds out her hand. "The key. Now." The guard who tackled Artair comes out, and closes the door behind her.

  19. Reno looks at the woman with the sword in disgust. "If you guys can deal with a couple of magic users this efficiently, why cant you deal with a few goblins?" He drops the key on the ground, and goes to grab his things.

As he passes them again on the way out of the cell he says "You tell the Duchess that she's got more than enough able bodied warriors here to deal with her goblin problem, but they're too busy soiling themselves because of a couple of magic users to save themselves." He shakes his head as he heads towards the stables, waving once before he's out of ear shot. "You're on your own ladies."

He then puts the saddle bags on his pack animal and heads out of town.

On his bed in the cell was left a hastily scrawled message to the rest of the party. It reads: "If you want to go adventure, I'm game. I will wait for 2 nights outside of town near the road. After that, I'm leaving."
